Goodbye for now, David!

It was bittersweet day at NGGS yesterday as we said farewell to our centre administrator David Anderson on his last day before retirement. While we couldn't be happier to see him embark on this new stage of his life, finally free of the shackles of endless phone calls and paperwork, we'll surely miss the efficiency, knowledge, and kindness David brought to the centre over the course of his career.
We couldn't let David leave without a bang of course, so in true NGGS style we rallied the troops to arrange a big send-off. The Group B lads - Rahman, Rafi, and Omid - toiled away tirelessly in the kitchen under cooking teacher Eddie's supervision to prepare and serve a delicious spread of nibbles and finger food for everyone to enjoy.

Eddie, too, went out of his way to contribute, and baked a selection of delicious cakes for everyone to enjoy in honour of the occasion. Plates piled high with chocolate brownies and lemon drizzle cake were enthusiastically scarfed down by all, a testament to Eddie's unrivalled culinary skills.
Literacy teacher Lisa organised the fabulous decorations and gifts: colourful balloons were hung around the classroom to mark the occasion, and David was presented with a wonderful card, signed by all staff members with their own farewell message.
Big shout out finally, to all of our students who took part in creating a final parting gift for David: a drawing of a tree, on which each leaf was made of a student's individual thumbprint. Signed and framed, the finished piece looks fantastic, and will surely make a lovely keepsake for David to remind him of all the years he spent here as as an integral part of our team.
