Well, we finally have our new chef! After 6 long months of Ger’s ‘cooking’ (look, turns out defrosting oven chips is harder than it sounds), we were delighted to have Mr Chris Parrott join our centre this month as our new chef and cooking teacher extraordinaire.
Chris is a young, highly trained chef who combines classic cooking techniques with innovative modern food trends; our very own Gordon Ramsay, minus the swearing. In many ways our previous chef Eddie was one-of-a-kind and, as part of the fabric of NGGS for decades, he left huge boots to fill. Thankfully Chris embodies every bit of Eddie's gentle, encouraging attitude to teaching, all while bringing his own fresh perspectives and creative energy to our kitchen.
In his practice, Chris enjoys experimenting with new flavours and novel approaches and is looking forward to blending his existing style with traditional cuisines from the countries of our international learners, the results of which are equally eagerly awaited by our staff and students alike.

Having worked in a Michelin-starred restaurant, Chris intends to teach our students the importance of speed, efficiency, and working under pressure to prepare them for real-world situations. Chris is passionate about both cooking and teaching and this enthusiasm will encourage our students to harness their own creativity and keep them engaged and motivated.
Moreover, our centre has begun the necessary steps to become a Green School, and our the efficient running of our kitchen makes up a key component of this plan. Having run his own café, Chris has a zero-waste approach to food, and his sustainable, ethical cooking ties in very well with our Climate Justice module and our centre's low-waste policy.
In short, we couldn't be more delighted to welcome Chris onboard and believe he’ll become a huge asset to our centre, inspiring and teaching the next generation of NGGS chefs for years to come.
